For all of the people that have been wondering what I have been up to for the past few months, well, it’s a long story. In short, I’ve been writing for different sports sites, battling my way through my first semester in college, and making friends and acquaintances along the way. I’m currently one quarter of the way through my Freshman year at college, and I thought it’d be nice to address any of my readers that still wonder what I’m up to today. Let’s start from the middle of July of 2017.
Right before I graduated from high school, I started writing for FanSided. To this day, I write for their Boston Celtics site, Hardwood Houdini. I then got the opportunity to start writing for a second site, Armchair All-Americans, and write about the Milwaukee Bucks. So then, once I was writing for two different sports sites, I made my way to Milwaukee, where I started my college career at Marquette University.
Now, one quarter of the way through my first year, I’ve been growing and developing as a journalist at Marquette. I’m currently in a mentorship program, where I work closely with my senior mentor. As I learn from him and the rest of the Marquette Wire executives, I’ve also had the pleasure of starting my own radio show, part of Marquette Radio, as well as participate in the Golden Eagles Sports Report, a weekly television broadcast.
And now, just two days ago, I was hired as a Reporter and Media Affiliate for Marquette Hoops, an affiliate of 247sports. I’ve been very busy over the past two months, but it’s been a lot of fun to grow and learn as a young and hopeful journalist. I’ve even had the pleasure of participating in a couple of broadcasts for Marquette Sports.
The main point of this update it to inform any of my readers that the means of this site is changing as of today. Originally, I thought this site would be a place for me to write about any sports topics and keep up to date with Chicago and Wisconsin Sports. But now, since I write for different sports cites already, this site is going to become the personal portfolio for me, Jack Phillips.
The site will still be called Sports 4 Sports for now, but that might change in the near future. It will be a gradual change, so don’t expect any drastic changes all of a sudden. But I put all of my work and credentials on the side bar of the site for a reason, so please don’t be afraid to continue to follow me around. I’ll still post updates on where I am and what I’m doing, but they might be more spread out.
I’ll also start probably posting videos of my work and maybe even my own pieces, so please keep following the site for more information regarding myself. But again, this site is from here on out a place for my own work and credentials to be showcased. Although the change is big, it will be gradual and still entertaining. So please, stay tuned and excited for what I have yet to come. Sports 4 Sports has evolved, and hopefully you with it.
